Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2019

Event description

The SolBio-Rev project was presented at “Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2019” (english: Night of Sciences 2019). This event took place in the metropolitan area of the three cities Nürnberg, Fürth and Erlangen. More than 350 institutions (companies, universities as well as research, social and cultural institutions) participated and opened their doors from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. to the public. The latest research trends and future technologies were shown in presentations, workshops, experiments and guided tours.

Our institution, the Chair of Energy Process Engineering, also opened the doors for this event. A fluidized-bed demonstrator and a Heatpipe test rig were installed in the laboratories. Additionally the various projects were presented on posters by the researchers. The SolBio-Rev project was explained with a banner. Moreover the current set-up of the biomass boiler was exhibited.

Feedback & added-value

Many visitors were interested in the set-up and the advantages of the SolBio-Rev system. Especially the reversible heat-pump/ORC configuration gained a lot of attention. As the biomass boiler is already built up, the visitors were interested in the role and the innovation of this boiler in the overall system. The visitors were mostly not scientific but people of all ages and families. Therefore the focus of the explanations and discussions were not the technical details. Instead, the this event contributed to spread the idea and convince a broad range of people of the overall SolBio-Rev concept.
